The good news is that it’s been snowing like stink for about 4 hours now. The snow is great, cross your fingers that the clouds either go up or down so we can see our feet tomorrow;]

Our snow measurement devise melts the snow and calculates the snowfall based on volume of water. We have been fiddling with the correct moisture content conversion calcualiton but the moisture content varies. Our physical observation of the month of January indicates that the snow moisture content averaged 15.75:1. We have adjusted the site to a 15:1 coversion, ie 15 cm of snow is equal to 1 cm of melted water. We will see how this fits through the month of February.
