I have a keen interest in country properties and I just listed a very exciting acreage. It’s approximatley 41 acres of rare raw land on the Sunny side of the Valley in the Driftwood area only about 6 minutes from town. A great mixture of forest, hayfield, hillside and views. Great pics and info will be up on my site soon but in the meantime you can call me at my office at 250-847-5999.

Its finally getting warm, a high of 15 today. It’s been a very chilly stretch of weather since I last blogged about it. My ladies fastpitch team has been freezing. We have a big game tonight and we deserve some warmth.
Everyone is wondering what the Real Estate market will do and there is no one that can make any prediction with certainty. But I can tell you some good news as there are some positive signs in our local market. Inquiries about real estate have been steady and my office in meeting many people that are moving into the area. Our office does not do property management but we do have a dry erase board for the public to write rentals on, inquires have been steady and it seems that a lot of people are having trouble finding a place to rent. Demand for affordable mobiles is still strong which also reflects the need for housing [ if somone cant find a place to rent, a mobile is an affordable alternative]. The exeptions to demand seem to be higher end homes and those more then 20 minutes from town, that could change as we come into summer, when the country is oh so apppealing and we hit the season that everyone would prefer to move in. And, prices have adusted consideralby in those segments, so if moving out to the country or moving on up is on your agenda it’s a really good time to take a look around. It may be a bit to early it in the stats, but have a look around town and you will see quite a few sold signs.

Don’t plant your garden yet. Spring has sprung and everyone has spring fever since our first blast of warm weather, it got up to 22 C. last weekend. Now its back to only 3 degrees this am… oh well…. we had our teaser. The Golden rule for Smithers gardens is to wait until after May long weekend, bascially another two weeks from today. Experienced gardeners will be cautiously hardening off outdoor flower pots and planting hardy plants like spinach, chard and peas. But watch the thermoter at night, my mom always said that if it is above 10 degrees at bedtime then you are safe from frost but if it is below 10 then it will freeze, so cover your plants or bring them in. If anyone has spring garden advise for our local climate, or info about local events that you would like to spread around please let me know as I would be happy to post it on my Blog . Happy gardening.
