Elk are not common in the Bulkley Valley. As far as I know the first sightings were around Quick about 15-20 years ago. Quick is about 25 km from Smithers and the small heard is spotted periodically out there. I have never heard of a sighting near Smithers. I live right on the edge of Smithers, so I was pretty surprised to see two Elk outside my house at about 7am this morning. Here is a link to the photos we took Gallery link.
We had a great day picking morels south of Houston a few weeks ago. I just had to show off the pics, there are more in my photo gallery. Photo Gallery link
I found this interesting web page on the BC Real Estate Association [BCREA] website. Shelter taxes which are taxes on on homes we buy are a tough pill to swallow for a lot of us. BCREA has been lobbying the government to make these taxes more fair. This website, shelter tax webpage , allows you to calculate the cost to you of Shelter taxes on your Real Estate transaction. Interesting, and it helps learn a bit more about HST and Real Estate.
It’s time to start getting excited about boating and fishing season. We went out on the Bulkley last night for a ride and enjoyed the cool evening air. The river is still low as nothing is melting in the high elevations. I took this photo of Hudson Bay Mountain and the spring time clouds. I have set up a new photo Gallery for fishing pics that I will try to keep updated. You can check out my photo Gallery by following this link Fishing Gallery
